Warren jumps the gun. It's not even clear if the 'Volker Rule' was violated, and moreover JP Morgan Chase isn't asking for any money. She's just slinging mud for political gain. Call her "Dances Away From Facts", if you like.

?

I think you are missing Warren's point. Let me try to reiterate it:

NY Fed oversees $JPM trades; Jamie Dimon is a trustee of the NY Fed: CONFLICT OF INTEREST

Guess where you can take that unsubstantiated, fraudulent accusation and merrily stuff it? :)

Elizabeth Warren Did Not Claim Minority Status, Records Show

Records show that the leading Democratic candidate for U.S. Senate in Massachusetts identified her race as "white" on an employment record at the University of Texas and declined to apply for admission to Rutgers Law School under a program for minority students.

And nice company you're keeping with the "fauxcahontas" slur 9_9

15 _RememberTonyC  Mon, May 14, 2012 5:59:58am

Ah, the huff post, source of all truth. Apparently the desire for truth only applies to SOME politicians. She did claim to be 1/32nd Native American AS SHE HERSELF ADMITTED, thus gaming the system for her own advancement.

16 _RememberTonyC  Mon, May 14, 2012 6:05:13am

Maybe her quotes in the story were forged ...

[Link: legalinsurrection.com...]

If there is proof that they were, I will retract my characterization of her

17 Decatur Deb  Mon, May 14, 2012 6:14:37am

Claiming 1/32 Native American status doesn't get you diddly. If It did, my kids would own the parking concession at the local casino. To trigger any preferences you have to be seriously native and maintain a tribal identity. When we go to the Eufaula pow-wows we pay the white-eyes admission.

Ah, the huff post, source of all truth.

The same information is readily available elsewhere:

Elizabeth Warren Did Not List as Minority on Law School Application, Was Touted as One by U. Penn

Debate surrounding whether or not Massachusetts Senate candidate Elizabeth Warren self-identified as Native American in law school directories to advance her career took several new turns on Thursday, as new documents revealed that Warren declined to apply for a law school program for minority students, and was listed as a minority faculty member at University of Pennsylvania, where she taught law in the 1980s and ’90s.
...
Warren has said that she listed herself as a minority in directories in the hopes that she might meet what she described as people like her, not as a means of getting ahead in her career. The documents from Rutgers and the University of Texas appear to support Warren’s claims.

We're the quotes forged? If so, I will retract my criticism of her. I think her honesty is very much in question.

21 _RememberTonyC  Mon, May 14, 2012 6:47:57am

I hope Elizabeth Warren, once elected will be more concerned with honesty than she has demonstrated so far. Have a good day folks .... I'm off to do my monthly volunteering gig and then off to Boston to see Mom and attend game 2 of Sixers/Celtics tonight ... Have a good day everyone.

I approve of that message ;)

As for this ridiculous nontroversy, it feels exactly like the Rovian politics of personal destruction trash used on someone who's right about the issues that actually matter. And Scott Brown making the disgusting, disingenuous claim that she could put all the questions to rest by releasing her college transcripts? Gee, where have we heard that one before? 9_9 And then there's the racist, sexist affirmative action ooga-booga to boot.

So stupid, so shallow, so typical of the right wing.

Warren: 'Guerrilla war' underway on Wall Street

(CNN) – Elizabeth Warren, the consumer advocate and Democratic candidate for U.S. Senate in Massachusetts, said Monday the constant dodging of effective regulation by Wall Street banks amounts to lobbying warfare.

[…]

"There has been a guerrilla war out there in which the largest financial institutions have been doing everything they can to make sure that financial regulations don't get put in place and if they do get put in place, that they are loaded with loopholes and not very effective," Warren said on CNN's "Starting Point."

[…]

The problem originates with the teams of lobbyists hired to dissuade Congress from passing effective financial regulation, Warren said.

"There is a lobbying army hired by these financial institutions because they really don't want to have any oversight," Warren said. "They want to take on risks, and let the rest of us deal with the consequences with anything goes wrong."

[…]

"We need to stop the cycle of bankers taking on risky activities, getting bailed out by the taxpayers, then using their army of lobbyists to water down regulations," Warren wrote in the statement. "We need a tough cop on the beat so that no one steals your purse on Main Street or your pension on Wall Street."

Warren said on CNN Monday that America's banks had problems both in size and mindset.

"The problem is a combination of size and attitude," Warren said. "They are too big. There's too much power concentrated in just a handful of institutions. But it's also that they have the attitude of 'Leave us alone. We will manage our risks internally, we will take care of it all ourselves and we will come back to you only if things go wrong and we need some help and we need a bailout.' We can't run an economy that way. We can't run a country that way. We have to stand up as a people and say no more of this."

PS: Am I the only one who thinks that it's weird for CNN to use WordPress?
